Who I am as a Photographer

Growing up, my father had a classic Canon SLR camera. I was always fascinated by it when he brought it out of his case and took his lenses out of those purple and gold Crown Royal felt bags - something I continue in  homage to him.  This was the beginning of my love for photography. I developed it over the past 20 something years - first with point-and-shoots; then with my own DSLRs, gaining knowledge, partly through formal courses, but primarily through experience and practice looking through my viewfinder.

While my love of photography spans numerous genres, I primarily focus on people and pet portraits, landscape, and travel photographs. I have always been drawn to capture raw, candid moments, highlighting my subjects in the beauty that is life and the organic nature of it.

Who I am as a person

I was born in Toronto, and while I moved around a fair bit in my 20's, I have been lucky enough to call Calgary home for over a decade, setting down roots in a wonderful city near the mountains - a place where my heart has always felt a sense of belonging. Apart from photography, my other big passions are skiing and cooking, areas that I aspire to bridge with my camera, linking my passions together.

I have been told I have a gentle soul and am friendly, compassionate, warm, and approachable - qualities that I believe lend themselves well to connecting to children and pets when working with them. And surely it helps that I love kids and our furry friends.
